A Sea King Family Gathering of 250 Plus
More than two hundred and fifty current players, Sea King alumni, families and friends of the program gathered at CDM on the day after Thanksgiving for the annual Turkey Shoot Alumni Game and Taco Fiesta. This year's event was the 14th year we have gathered together as a family over the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Four Sea Kings named USA Lacrosse All-Americans
Four seniors earned prestigious USA Lacrosse All-American honors. Grant Giuliano became the program's 18th Academic All-American since 2010. He will go on to play collegiate lacrosse in the MCLA at Cal-Berkeley. Gavin Gossen, Colin Hebble and Scott Westrick were named 2023 All-Americans. Gossen will play collegiate lacrosse at Stevenson University (NCAA D-III), Hebble at the University of Delaware (NCAA D-I) and Westrick at Providence College (NCAA D-I). With these members of the Class of 2023, under head coach G.W. Mix, the CDM program has had 26 All-Americans and placed 25 players in NCAA lacrosse programs.
Sea Kings topple St. Ignatius 6-5
end regular season beating State's top team
On Saturday afternoon, CDM beat St. Ignatius (San Francisco) - the top-ranked team in California - in its last regular season game before the start of the CIF Playoffs. Seniors Oliver Ayala (2 goals), Grant Giuliano (12 saves) and Colin Hebble (4 gb's) led the way for the Sea Kings. CDM will host Servite in the first round of the CIF Division I tournament at 6:00 PM on Thursday, May 4.
Sea Kings upset #4 St. Margaret's 6-5
CDM jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the first half and scored with 3:38 remaining in the fourth quarter to beat St. Margaret's 6-5 in a critical CIF SS Division I match-up for both programs. With the win, the Sea Kings improved to 12-6 overall and strengthen their 2023 Open Division playoff resumé.
CDM upsets Torrey Pines for third year in a row
For the third year in a row, the Sea Kings knocked off perennial high school lacrosse powerhouse Torrey Pines. CDM won the mid-week game 6-5, using a combination of solid defense, outstanding goaltending and patient offense. "Our program's commitment to line up with the very best and compete certainly paid off today," commented CDM head coach G.W. Mix.
