2020 season suspended

Senior attackman Kyle Mix scores in CDM's final game before the season was suspended
The 2020 CDM Boys Lacrosse season was suspended on Friday due to the Coronavirus outbreak. There is no clear indication if and when the team may be able to resume practicing or playing games.

The Sea Kings, ranked fifth in CIF Southern Section at the time, were off to a 2-0 start. In their opening game on February 29, CDM defeated Servite 11-5. On Wednesday, March 12, the Kings improved to 2-0 with an impressive 18-7 win over Beckman.

Below is a note from head coach G.W. Mix to the players:

The Price of Leadership

Fellas -

You should be extremely proud.

As athletes, you have been called upon to make a remarkable sacrifice for the greater good. Today, you stand shoulder to shoulder with many of the the best athletes in the world - those in the NBA, the NHL, MLB, MLS, the PGA, along with thousands of NCAA student-athletes across the country. Each of you have been asked to give up something so incredibly valuable to you personally in order to keep others safe and you have done so willingly and without hesitation. I am so proud of you.

I realize that this is another extremely challenging time for you, yet I remain confident that you will continue to band together and demonstrate a degree of resiliency that makes you one of the most memorable group of young men I have ever had the pleasure of calling my teammates.

One day, you will look back on your time at CDM, and what you were able to overcome, as one of the most empowering and impactful experiences in your life. It will forever strengthen you and enable you to meet so many of life’s unpredictable challenges with confidence, determination and humility.

I can’t wait to follow your journey.
